In less than a month, I've had two amazing opportunities because of my job. Two of the surgeons I work with have blessed me with two polar opposite cultural experiences!!
A first: Dr. Johnson took my friend Crystal and I clay shooting at Selwood Farms. It was my first shot gun experience and my second time ever shooting a gun (hand gun in the past)... We shot a 20 gauge Cordova that belongs to his daughter. We were thankful to have Dr. J and his friend Jason, who shoots competitively, show us the ropes...and keep us from shooting our eyes out, or anyone elses! Enjoy...
Blessing 2: Dr. Adkison graciously offered me and a date two tickets to the Starlight Gala here at the Allys Stephens Center. The honored guest for the evening was none other than Queen Latifa!!! I had JUST seen The Secret Life of Bees (which is a very cool movie), and was floored to be invited to such a prestigious evening. It was to benefit VIVA HEALTH which is the main fundraiser for UAB hospital here. I took my friend Jeff Matthews and enjoyed everything from Jazz to Blues to funk and a little of comedy in between! The Queen puts on quite a show and her talents are from A to Z...acting, singing, song writing, producing...and Jenny Craig!! haha...(that was her joke by the way). Sweet.
I'm humbled by my job on a dialy basis. And blessed more than I deserve.
